SHIELD

Or, on a mount an oak tree Vert; a base Azure (Dark blue), thereon three mullets chevronwise of the first.


CREST

From a wreath Or and Azure (Dark blue), a demi-trident Or, arching above, the representation of four semaphore flags Proper.


SUPPORTERS

Behind the shield, a Navy officers sword and a Navy enlisted cutlass in saltirewise Proper.


MOTTO

A scroll Azure (Dark blue), edged Or, doubled Gules, with the inscription FORTITUDE DIVERSITY COMMUNICATION of the second.

Symbolism

SHIELD

The colors dark blue and golden yellow are traditional colors of the United States Navy. The oak tree represents strength, durability and courage and this stylized oak tree is inspired by the city of Oakland flag. The three stars recall that this is the third ship to bear the name USS OAKLAND. The blue base symbolizes Lake Merritt, a large tidal lagoon and a historical landmark in the center of Oakland, California.


CREST

The wreath adopts the first named metal and color from the shield and blazon. The trident is a traditional naval symbol of maritime domination. The semaphore flags represent the code letters (NBSM) of the USS OAKLAND (CL-95) the most decorated namesake.


SUPPORTERS

The Navy officers sword and enlisted cutlass represent the teamwork required of the members the crew and the strength and courage to complete the mission.


MOTTO

The motto, FORTITUDE DETERMINATION COMMUNICATION.


SEAL

The coat of arms as blazoned in full color on a white oval disc within a dark blue designation band, edged with a gold chain border and bearing the name USS OAKLAND at the top and LCS 24 at the base.
